Band Saw Head Frame |
The rigid 'C' section frame carries the mountings for the two band
wheels, heavy duty planetary gear reducer, the band drive motor and saw
guide arm mounting supports. |
Inverter Band Saw Speed
Controller |
The inverter controlled band drive is coupled directly to the Amada
designed and built planetary speed reducer. The use of the direct
coupled inverter eliminates the power loses from belted variable speed
pulleys thus increasing the efficiency of cutting. It also eliminates
the maintenance inherent in a variable speed pulley and belt. |
Band Saw Wheels & Drive
System |
The band wheels are cast iron for long, productive life. The drive wheel
is mounted on the rotating outer case of the planetary gear reducer.
This direct coupling of the drive wheel to the rotating outer case of
the reducer provides deflection free torque transfer and ensures the
wheel runs true regardless of tension stresses or cutting loads. The
inherent high efficiency of the planetary gear reducer means more power
is delivered to the blade. The idler wheel spindle assemblies
incorporate tapered roller bearings for greater rigidity and long
service life. The wheel tracks the blade so that the back of the blade
contacts the wheel flange to support the back of the band. |
Idler Wheel Motion Detector |
The wheel motion detector will turn off the band drive in the case where
a blade breaks or is jammed in the work piece. This feature also
prevents premature wear on the drive wheel from a stalled band. |
Smart Multiple Index |
The entire cutting cycle is CNC controlled and based on the operator's
input of the cutting parameters. The multiple index cycle is optimized
for the best productivity e.g. a cut length greater than 19.7" (500 mm.)
is indexed by multiple full strokes and the final index stroke is the
remaining length. |
Band Deviation Monitor ® |
This patented cutting control device can reduce scrap by warning of when
the blade is no longer cutting within the set limits. The CNC controller
constantly monitors the cutting and blade conditions including the twist
of the saw blade. When these exceed the preset parameters in the
automatic blade runout detector the machine will cease cutting and
indicate the reason for stopping. |
Full Stroke Vise Travel |
Both sets of work holding vises have full stroke vise cylinders to
eliminate the need for the operator to adjust them when changing
material sizes. |
Split Front Vise |
The split work holding vise reduces the butt end remnant to a minimum of
0.3 in. (8 mm.) and minimizes the burr on the cut piece. |
Band Saw Automatic Chip
Brush Positioning |
The hydraulically driven chip brush is automatically positioned to the
blade to ensure the most effective chip removal. |
Band Saw Anti-Vibration
Roller |
The anti-vibration roller assembly is attached to the left guide. This
patented assembly significantly reduces blade vibration particularly
when cutting thin sections or high nickel or chromium alloys. |
Powered Chip Conveyor |
The hydraulically powered chip conveyor auger automatically removes the
chips from the saw while draining the cutting fluid back into the fluid
reservoir. The automatic chip conveyor greatly reduces cleanup time and
enables the machine to run longer without operator cleanup. |
Band Saw Guarding |
The saw band is constrained within the heavy gage guarding in all
non-cutting areas. |
